Those who live longer lives seem to have one thing in common – a great attitude and an acceptance to change and loss.
Watching the ABC evening news one night recently, there was a lovely story of a Mrs. Matthews who was 100 years old and playing the piano. Yes, she was one of those persons who always sees the cup half full. There she was at 100, on the evening news, smiling, dressed stylishly and chatting about her love of life – I just could not help from hoping I could be as positive.
What does that mean for all of us that seem to run around with a crisis of the day? It is my guess that if we don’t slow down and enjoy the life we have we just won’t have the quantity of days we desire.
Yes, all of us will experience loss and change as we age, but we can pause to have our feelings. We must, if we want to age with grace, pick ourselves up and put ourselves back out there and engage with others, challenge our minds and move our bodies.
One of my favorite songs is “Its a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. How would your life be different if you sang that song each day, how would your life be different if you saw every experience as an opportunity to grow in positive ways?
